Bone tumors
The Children and Adolescent Bone Tumors Unit in the HM CIOCC Pediatric Oncology Unit looks after children who have been diagnosed with benign or malignant bone tumor as well as sarcomas and soft tissue tumors in the musculoskeletal system with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment methods.
The most common malignant bone tumors in this age group are osteosarcoma (4,8 out of 106) and Ewing’s tumor (3 out of 106).
Soft tissue sarcomas represent 7% of pediatric tumors, of which more than 30 types of cancer have been described, each one of them with a different biological behavior which requires a precise molecular studio.
Treating these diseases requires high specialized diagnosis and a treatment aimed not only to achieve the survival of children but also to preserve the limb and its functionality.
