Active Research Programs

  1. Liquid Biopsy in Brain Tumors

This project focuses on isolating circulating tumor cells and/or tumor DNA from blood samples to analyze their molecular characteristics and identify potential therapeutic targets.

Estimated research personnel budget: €50,000 per year for 3 years.
  2. Molecular Alterations in Refractory or Incurable Tumors

Study of molecular alterations in tumors resistant to conventional treatment, aimed at identifying druggable targets.

Initially funded by the Intheos Foundation.

    Estimated budget: €50,000 per year.

Home-Based Pediatric Palliative Care Unit

Care for children diagnosed with cancer and their families is provided from diagnosis through potential cure.

Childhood cancer is curable in more than 80% of cases. However, some tumors are incurable at diagnosis or may relapse after first-line treatment. In these cases, care strategies must be reoriented to focus on quality of life and family support.

Care may be delivered at home or in the hospital, according to the wishes of the child and parents. Home care is provided by the same multidisciplinary team that has followed the child in the hospital, adapting to the child’s needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When requested, we bring the hospital home at the end of life.

This Unit was funded until 2014 by the Inocente-Inocente Foundation and is currently supported by “Running for Mariana.” It is clear that this program requires sustained and significant financial support.
